February is a month where people are still feeling the thrill of the new year, but have also gotten into a bit of a routine. I definitely felt this – looking forward for what the rest of 2024 has in store, but have settled fairly well into my day-to-day.
This month was wild… like it felt like it went by so quickly but also so much has happened! Per usual, my favorites list is dominated by foods. I’m a foodie at heart. But sprinkled in are some fun content creators I’ve been a fan of lately!
Anyway, without further ado, here are my February favorites! Remember, there is SO much to explore, rediscover, consume, and create. Get inspired and find joy in all the big and small things!
FEBRUARY FAVORITES
1. @KAITLYNEATS ON TIKTOK
This TikToker is a NYC foodie! She’s known for her “back again with another bagel review” videos and for eating out A LOT! There’s something about her videos I just really like and the food she eats all looks SO. FREAKING. GOOD. Like she single handedly is making me want to visit New York City and EAT BAGELS! I also love how diverse and tasteful her palette seems – she tries all kinds of things from all different cultures, which I really appreciate. Anyway, go find her on TikTok for all your NYC foodie needs.
2. NEW CRUMBL NEAR MY HOUSE
So, a new Crumbl opened right near my house. Like we’re talking a 5 minutes drive. Dangerous? Perhaps. Admittedly, I was never a Crumbl gal. In my mind, I even told myself I would never be that person to keep track of the weekly lineup and try it every week. And while I can say I WILL NOT be trying it every week, I did download the app and have already gone three times. So. Take with that what you will. They really know how to get you! And I can say that I have enjoyed many of the flavors, but at the same time a lot of them just seem so commercial and cookie-cutter… like not an appealing homemade cookie vibe. In conclusion, Crumbl hits or misses, but when it looks like it’ll hit, I’ll be there.
3. AT HOME VALENTINE’S DAY STEAK DINNER
Had to include the lovely steak dinner my boyf and I concocted 🙂 He cooked a steak and I made potatoes and broccoli as sides. AND we ended the meal with a GINORMOUS, home-made, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie. Truly can’t go wrong!
4. HOMEMADE GAU FOR LUNAR NEW YEAR
It’s the year of the dragon! And that’s my parents’ zodiac sign, so of course we had to celebrate the Lunar New Year a bit more than usual. My parents decided to make like three batches of homemade gau! If you aren’t familiar, gau is basically like a sweet Chinese mochi cake. They turned out fantastic and there was enough to feed a small army! Good thing we had lots of people to share with 🙂
5. LA CUCINA
One of my FAVORITE Italian restaurants on island. Everything I’ve tried there is top tier. But this time I tried a new dish -the _____ – and let me tell you. This was so so so scrumptious. I think it’s my new go-to order. But really, you can’t go wrong with anything here. And, we ended the meal with a creme brulee cheesecake! Perfection. Go try this place or eat some Italian food – pasta makes everything better!!
6. NEW YORK CITY FOOD
I had to give NYC food its own mention. Because that’s how obsessed I am right now with it. The pizza, bagels, sushi, burgers – this city literally has anything and everything you could think of. It’s a foodie hub, cultural hub, and social hub. I need to go! Let this be your inspiration to go on fun trip to NYC.
7. @GWYNETHYUMA ON TIKTOK
Talk about another NYC based TikToker. Gwyneth just seems so sweet and what especially stands out about her is her connection to Hawaii and content related to Asia/Asian food (particularly Japanese/Okinawan). I always love a good Asian representation, and it’s awesome to hear her speak about even the simplest things like eating onigiri and making sushi bakes or her mom cooking homemade Japanese food. It really is just relatable to me and I enjoy her content!
