Here are some amazing picnic date ideas that go beyond picnic blankets and sandwiches!
I am a picnic gal. Something about eating food outside and sprawling out on the ground just gets me, I guess.
While I love a simple picnic with a blanket and snacks, why not spice it up a bit and put in just a little more effort to make the picnic extra special – especially if it’s a date!
And of course, depending on the season, put a seasonal twist on these ideas! Take inspiration from fall foods, spring colors, or summer trends, for example. Be creative, and most importantly, enjoy quality time with one another.
From food ideas to activities, here are 6 fun picnic date ideas you and your partner will love.
6 PICNIC DATE IDEAS
1. TAKEOUT SUSHI
Give me sushi and a picnic (and a sunset!) and that’s all I need!! The juxtaposition of eating sushi, a food that can be pretty luxurious, outside, is so fun! Of course you can go as simple as getting grocery store sushi, but you can also splurge a bit and find a high quality sushi spot that does takeout boxes. You and your partner can have fun trying all the different rolls and nigiri, while enjoying the world around you.
2. ALL THINGS MINI
Mini foods are the perfect way to go for a date because you get to eat a lot of different things with only two people. Channel a tea party – mini sandwiches, tiny desserts, etc. You and your partner can spend time planning the “menu” and making/buying the different foods.
3. SET UP IN THE TRUNK
Get some blankets and pillows together and set up your picnic in the trunk of your car! This picnic date is especially perfect for sunrise and sunset. Get cozy, order some takeout food or pizza, and park your car at a nice lookout spot.
4. PORTABLE GRIDDLE/BURNER
Think camping… but not necessarily in the woods. Get a portable burner and/or griddle and cook a meal outside! For instance, make pancake batter and cook some pancakes on the beach. You can also cook up eggs and bacon! Or for lunch, make a quesadilla. At its core it’s simply cooking outside… but it’s a fun change up and you can enjoy your food with a view and in a new surrounding!
5. POLAROID (DECORATING)
Bring you polaroid camera and snap some cute pics! And as a fun activity, decorate your pictures using polaroid frames and mini stickers, and/or write little notes on the back related to the photo. Not only will you and your partner have a fun little picnic activity, but you’ll also have adorable pictures to look back on.
6. BOARD GAMES
Bring some fun games to play while on your picnic! Here’s a list of some 2 player games you and your partner:
